New MORA and SND features accompany a plethora of bug fixes in v1.0.2

WASM Crash Issues Fixed in Latest iniBuilds A350 Update

iniBuilds has released the latest patch (v1.0.2) to its A350 airliner which contains many fixes for WASM crashes that have plagued the flying experience for some users since the add on was released last week.

Alongside the WASM issues which have been widely reported in the community, this patch also addresses a great deal of issues and with the aircraft’s simulation.

The update also comes with 2 new features – MORA (minimum off-route altitude) and SND (secondary navigation display).

MORA refers to the altitude required to remain 1000 ft (or 2000ft if terrain/obstacle height exceeds 5000ft) above any terrain and obstacles within a given area. It can be defined as either route of grid MORA. Route MORA dynamically looks 10 miles either side of the airway that is being flown on, as well as 10 miles from either end of the airway, and samples the MOR altitude based on terrain and obstacles within that area. Grid MORA in the other hand looks at the tallest obstacle or terrain within a grid square spanning 1 degree west/east and north/south and samples based on this.

For example, in the region between W3°/2° and N55°/56°, the MORA is shown on our chart as 4(1), indicating that an altitude of 4100ft QNH is required to stay 1000 ft clear of all terrain and obstacles in this region (chart: Navigraph).

MORA on the iniBuilds A350 (see top of article) is being sourced from Navigraph and is shown on the MFD in the bottom-left corner, as well as on the vertical profile indication as a dashed pink line, the same colour tone used for constraints. In the example that iniBuilds show the MORA is set to scan within 40 nautical miles and returns a value of 152, or 15200ft.

The other new feature in this update is the secondary navigation display. This instrument sources its position from ground based navigational aids as well as GPS position data, is used in the event that the FMC position is unreliable, or the system becomes inoperative. Basic navigational guidance is provided as well as limited flight plan guidance.

A full change log containing all of the WASM crash and other bug fixes contained in the update is available from iniBuilds here.
