Orbx has officially brought Volanta to Xbox users in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, allowing console simmers to use the flight tracking platform for the first time.
Available through the in-sim Marketplace, the Xbox version works through a dedicated toolbar panel inside MSFS 2024. Once connected, users can track flights live on a secondary device through the Volanta web platform, with support for smartphones, tablets, and desktop browsers. It is worth noting that you must keep the small window open at all times to keep the connection established and you must complete this each time you want to track a flight.
The application works with Volanta, being visible on a second device. The Volanta map or app won’t be viewable within the Toolbar window within the simulator. Orbx says that they are working on continuing to refine the Xbox experience for those users with future updates.
The platform includes many of the same features available on PC, including automatic flight logging, aircraft statistics, flight history, live mapping, and community integration. Volanta also connects users across multiple simulators, including MSFS 2020, X-Plane, DCS World, and Prepar3D.
According to Orbx, the Xbox version is also compatible with Xbox Cloud Gaming and GeForce NOW, although PlayStation support is not currently available.
Volanta for Xbox is available now via the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace for the minimum in-sim Marketplace fee of $4.99. It does not say whether this includes any Premium support or a discount on a Premium subscription in the future.
