Over on their website’s news blog, Virtavia has announced that their ever-popular B-47E Stratojet, originally released for FSX, has been reworked for X-Plane 11 and will be released soon.
The Boeing B-47E Stratojet is a retired, long-range, six-engined strategic bomber constructed to fly at high subsonic speed and at high altitude to avoid enemy interceptor aircraft. Primarily used by the US Air Force, the B47-E’s primary mission was as a nuclear bomber capable of striking the Soviet Union. Back in WWII, it was considered to be a major innovation contributing to the development of modern airliners. It was retired in 1977.
Virtavia’s rendition of the aircraft has been completely reworked from their FSX release with a new bump-mapped bare-metal effect, complete cockpit conversion and more to follow soon. The RATO function of the FSX vex version will not be included, however, it is possible that it may come in a future update. This conversion is the first in of what is hoped to be a long line of conversions of popular Virtavia titles.
The conversion process is far from elementary meaning that the X-Plane 11 version will come at a price, even for owners of the FSX version. The aircraft will come at a price of $19.95 (Excl. VAT). We will endeavour to let you know once it has been released.
