Hardware manufacturer VIRPIL Controls, known for its range of high-end combat simulator focused joysticks, throttles, and rudder pedals, announced its first foray into the force feedback field, the VPC ATLAS.
VIRPIL’s take on force feedback is unique from an engineering perspective. In lieu of belts or gears, VPC ATLAS relies on a drive cord system. According to the manufacturer, “this design provides the best of all worlds. No backlash, no cogging, no deadzones with equal and linear forces across the axes with incredible precision.”
Claimed maximum output power for the VPC Atlas is 25nm, which according to the manufacturer, translates into 12kg of force on the grip. Importantly, this maximum output can be sustained for “minutes.”
VPC ATLAS Pro
For pilots who prefer peak pulling power, the ATLAS Pro offers 45nm of output force, which translates to over 22kg (48lbs) of force at the grip. This means that consumer flight sticks can now output more grip force than the roughly 18kg felt by real F/A-18 pilots.
The ATLAS Pro is available as either a standalone stick, or as a hardware upgrade kit for the regular VPC ATLAS force feedback base, meaning pilots can purchase the extra pulling power at a later date and retrofit their existing base.
As we talked about in our review of the Moza AB6, software is a huge component of the overall FFB experience, especially for civilian flight simulators. To that extent, VIRPIL brought the FFBeast team onboard to develop the software for VPC Atlas.

Both VPC ATLAS and VPC ATLAS Pro are available for pre-order today with pricing below. Shipping is expected to start in Q4 of 2026. The ATLAS PRO Module Upgrade will be available for purchase after pre-orders.
