Verticalsim Cancels Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

Scenery developer Verticalsim has announced the cancellation of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (KFLL) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Despite significant progress already made on the project, the decision was made after careful consideration, citing technical and logistical challenges. The project was originally announced just shy of a year ago.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Verticalsim explained that the airport’s complexity, lack of detailed reference material, and shifting market expectations made the project no longer viable to complete at the quality level the team demands. The developer reaffirmed a commitment to quality over quantity, emphasising a refusal to rush or cut corners in scenery development.

Looking ahead, Verticalsim’s focus will now shift to completing Palm Beach International Airport (KPBI) and outlining a more structured roadmap for 2025. The aim is to continue delivering high-quality airport experiences that align with the evolving expectations of the flight sim community.

Verticalsim concluded by thanking the community for its ongoing support, trust, and understanding.
