A new name is beginning to circulate within the flight simulation space, as Vector has lifted the curtain on its upcoming Boeing 787 project for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 at FSWeekend 26.
Vector comprises real-world 787 pilots, 787 mechanics, 3D artists, and developers, all of whom share one thing in common: they are all flight simmers. Development has been underway for more than a year, with a team of over 20 developers involved to bring the Boeing 787-9 to life.
From what has been shared so far, the aircraft is being built from the ground up with significant attention to system-level fidelity, with the previews highlighting complex electrical system modelling, TCP and CDU.

On the visual side, Vector previewed two external shots of the Boeing 787-9, with the side profile and one up close of the engine. Vector is also emphasising immersion, one standout feature teased is the inclusion of Electronic Dimmable Windows (EDWs), a signature element of the 787 that dynamically adjusts cabin lighting conditions. Alongside this, the team has highlighted capturing “small details” both inside and outside the aircraft in flight and on the ground, based on extensive research directly at the source.

Vector plans to reveal further details through a series of upcoming development spotlights covering systems, modelling, and sound design, with a tentative release window of 2026.
