VATSIM has revealed the final list of airports which will be featured in the VATSIM Cross The Pond Eastbound 2020 event. The event kicks-off on November 14th at 1100Z.
A semiannual event, Cross the Pond sees pilots from all over the world make the trek over the Atlantic Ocean. One event generally happening in Spring sees pilots flying from Europe to America, and the other event happening during Fall sees pilots flying from America to Europe. This year, 16 airports have been selecting in total, with 8 airports for departures and 8 airports for arrival. It is the higher count of airports that has ever been done in VATSIM CTP. It gives a total of 54 city pairs possible.These airports and the relevant sectors will be fully staffed by ATC. This means that people flying between any of these airports will need to book a slot. The slot booking date and time has not been announced yet, but since the event takes place in about three weeks it should be soon enough. It is possible to fly between other airports or towards these airports without slots, but pilots should expect delays or might even be diverted to other destinations. Due to the COVID pandemic and stay at home movement, this year’s CTP Westbound Event saw record attendance with 3,111 unique connections.
