VASystems just wrapped up their #FSExpoFriday presentation, where they gave a detailed update on their panel apps for flight simulators.
For those unaware of the company, VASystems provide real-world airline schedules to users who can then recreate these operations authentically in their chosen simulator.
The lead announcement actually came from VASystems’ sister company, VA Hardware. This was soft-launched at FSWeekend, but at today’s presentation saw the announcement of the Mini Flight Data Display. This is a device that tracks any real-world flight in real time. The team said that although other devices like mobile phones are very capable of doing this already, this is a device “designed to do just one thing, but very very well”. The inspiration came from the company founder’s dad, who was frequently asking him about which flight he was on as he travelled frequently for work.

Not only can the owner see the information displayed on screen in this article’s thumbnail, but there are many more widgets which can go on the device’s screen, which is fully customisable.
The product is launching at a price of £169.99, which will be approximately $233 USD. This may seem quite steep, however during the presentation VA Hardware said they had chosen to manufacture the product with premium materials and techniques in their home country of the U.K, where labour costs are also higher. So although this is a premium price point, it should be a premium product.
There is no subscription model in place, however users will be able to pay to track flights using a credits system, where the smallest purchase option of 250 credits, priced at £5 GBP, can track about 5 flights on average. With a hardware purchase, owners will also get 250 credits for free.

The product is available for pre-order now and first deliveries are expected in July.
