Update 23:20z 8 Feb 2018: Whilst the update below was incredibly detailed, a further tid-bit of information was released by beta tester Karl Brooker. When asked whether the A319/321 would be designed for 64-bit systems only, he confirmed this to be the case. “And yes, A319 and A321 will be P3Dv4-only.” Furthermore, he also added that the previously mentioned “Application Manager Facility” is still under development and will come at a later date.

FSLabs has been awfully quiet lately – working away on the update for their A320-X aircraft. Although Lefteris wanted to announce today would be the release of the update, something unexpected happened very last minute meaning it will be just a few more days until they’re able to release it. No firm date was given, but it’s suggested it will be sooner than later. However, to help prepare us for what’s to come, he did provide some insight into the changes we can expect to find.
This new update comes with it a range of logic and performance improvements, as well as some ‘powerful’ dynamic effects. I assume that the majority of this comes from the new dynamic effects system, which we highlighted a few days ago. This includes dynamic engine start up (linked to oil temperature), tyre smoke (linked to landing rate), wing condensation (in fog/cloud) and lots more.
Of course, these aren’t the only improvements found in this update. Sound has also been another big focus for the development team, providing reworks to the CFM engine sound effects, fixing missing gear sounds and nose wheel scrub sounds for when nose gear is skidding has been added.
There has also been general fixes including ADIRU save logic has been fixed, electrical loss upon landing has been resolved, and flare mode has been improved. There’s a huge list of fixes, which can be found at the bottom of this post.
However, the A320-X isn’t the only aircraft on the development table at FSLabs. As we know, the team are working on the A319, A321 as well as other yet-to-be-announced aircraft. Today, however, Lefteris provided some insight into the plans for the future.
Excitingly enough, now that the recent update for the A320-X in P3DV4 has now been released, the team will soon be beta testing the A319-X. The A319-X won’t just be a visual model change, but complete with accurate flight models, fuel burns and other quirks found only on the A319. FSLabs hopes to have it ready for a release in a quick timeframe.
Once that A319-X has been released, attention will be quickly given to the A321-X. The largest of the A32X family will again come complete with all the bells and whistles you would expect from an accurate simulation of the aircraft. No time frame was given.
The A320-X Sharklet edition will feature after the A321-X has released. Apart from the new wing sharklets, the product will feature the newer software updates standards that are present on the fleet, such as FMGC, EFCS, FWC, etc.

As for users who are still on FSX/P3DV3, then don’t worry as FSLabs will be using the things they have learned from these updates to retrofit your product with the same improvements. Some things won’t be found in the 32-bit version (due to memory limitation / lack of ability in the sim itself), but many things will be consolidated. The update will be with beta testers soon, so hopefully a release not too far off from that.
He also dropped another hint of their upcoming “XXXX-X for XXXXXX”, suggesting it’s an aircraft that stays in the air longer than anything they’ve done in the past. No idea what that may be right now but we can only imagine!
What about Concorde?
You may remember a while back FSLabs asked the community for their thoughts on a new version of the iconic aircraft for P3DV4.
Well the community was certainly heard by the team at FSLabs as they say they are ‘convinced’ that the Concorde-X was a loved product and that the community will embrace a new version of it built for 64-bit sims. The team said that whilst they wish to concentrate on redesigning the interior and add missing functionality, there could still be some changes to the plans in the future.
The team are extremely passionate about the project and we’re excited to hear more details about its future soon.
