Ugra-Media Releases Cold War Germany Map for DCS World

Ugra-Media releases its DCS: Cold War Germany map depicting 1980s Central Europe for Digital Combat Simulator.

Ugra-Media has released its DCS: Cold War Germany Map module for Digital Combat Simulator, depicting central Europe during the 1980s.

The development team, previously responsible for the DCS: Syria and Normandy maps, has created terrain covering areas of West Germany, East Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, and the Low Countries. The map’s focus is on the Fulda Gap region and includes a portion of the Baltic Sea.

The announced playable area measures 980×800 km. According to Ugra-Media, the map features representations of cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Magdeburg, Leipzig, Hannover, and Lübeck.

Included are over 100 military airfields and heliports, listed examples include NATO bases like Ramstein, Spangdahlem, Hahn, and Bitburg, as well as civilian airports like Tegel, Schönefeld, Tempelhof, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Hannover.

Additional points of interest detailed by Ugra Media encompass numerous army bases, listening posts, naval bases, training grounds, weapon storage facilities, and the historical militarised border between East and West Germany. Ugra Media states they aimed for detailed reproductions of infrastructure, including road and rail networks, power plants, the electricity grid, industrial sites, mines, tunnels, stadiums, rail yards, stations, and cultural landmarks.

The initial release version covers the central portion of Germany with summer textures, intended to support simulations of potential Cold War scenarios. Ugra-Media has indicated that future updates are planned to add further detail, more airfields, expand coverage north, south, and west, including parts of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark, and introduce Spring, Autumn, and Winter textures.

The DCS: Germany Cold War Map by Ugra Media is available now on Steam or the official Eagle Dynamics E-Shop for a reduced price of $55.99.
