Turbulent Designs Announces Future Development for Prepar3D V4 and X-Plane 11 Only

The team at Turbulent Designs posted a ‘major announcement’ over on their forums today. The major announcement was confirmation that going forward, they will be developing exclusively for Prepar3D V4 and X-Plane 11 only. Turbulent Designs have previously supported FSX, P3D V1 – V3, but in an attempt to continue bringing high quality content at competitive prices, the team have decided to focus solely on platforms for the future – ensuring they take full advantage of the new technology both sims provide.

Fear not if you’re an owner of MBS Airport, Big Bear Airport and Angwin-Parret Field will still be available and supported for the other platforms. In fact, all of these airports are currently going through development and testing for Prepar3D V4, using the new dynamic lighting and other new technology only available in the 64-bit sim. All scenery packages will be entering beta testing next week, so you won’t have to wait too long.

Of course, Russ Linn and Russ White (that must get confusing in the office!) are finishing up work on Idaho Falls Airport, which will be the very last scenery from Turbulent Designs to support the legacy platforms (FSX, FSX:SE, P3D v1, v2.x and v3.x).

Furthermore, as already mentioned, the team will be also working with X-Plane 11 to bring their high quality scenery to the platform. No announcement plans were made other than things are “cooking away in the background” and the team seem excited to show you what they’re working on.

In the mean time, why not check out their amazing MBS Airport, which we will have a full review on soon.

If you ask me, I personally feel this is the right direction for our development community. I’ll be putting together some thoughts on developers leaving the old platforms and focusing on the future soon. But for now, why don’t you leave your comments down below.
