TropicalSim updates Kansas City Int’l Airport for MSFS 2024

TropicalSim has updated its Kansas City International Airport Version 2 (KMCI) to include native compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Located in the US state of Missouri, KMCI is an important passenger and freight hub for the Kansas City metropolitan area. In 2019 the airport embarked on a $1.5 billion project to build a new, modern terminal to replace the dated but iconic horseshoe-shaped terminals from the 1970’s. The new terminal opened to the public in 2023 and in 2024, thanks in part to the efficiency of the new terminal, the airport saw a record number of travelers.

TropicalSim’s latest version of KMCI V2 for MSFS 2024 includes the new terminal with full interior modeling and PBR textures, custom jetways, and an up-to-date ground layout. According to the developer, “For MSFS24, many changes have been made to make use of the new SDK format, including the new LOD system, night illumination changes, ground layout edits to comply with updated imagery, new excludes, new vegetation, etc…

The scenery is available for purchase at SIMMARKET for €18.50. Customers who own the MSFS 2020 Kansas City International KMCI Version 2 scenery (new airport layout) can obtain the MSFS 2024 version free of charge. Those who purchased the FS9, FSX, P3D, or MSFS 2020 version 1 of the scenery (old airport layout), can access special upgrade pricing of €14.00 when logged in using the simMarket account originally used to purchase the previous version.
