Triple Threat: iniBuilds Tristar Updated, Available on iniBuilds Store, Operations Pack Incoming

iniBuilds made three new announcements about the triple-engined Tristar Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

To start the trijet party, Matt from iniBuilds took to the forums for a development update. The post kicked off by highlighting the release of the 1.0.8 update, which brought a range of improvements across systems, avionics, flight guidance, and cockpit functionality.

The Autopilot and flight director received several refinements. Vertical speed selection was tuned for consistency, turn behavior was improved, lateral flight director guidance was retuned, and additional corrections were made to INS autopilot tracking.

The INS received a significant upgrade. Now, the navigation system continuously calculates the aircraft’s track based on its current position along the great circle path. As a result, the commanded bearing updates naturally throughout the leg in the same way that real-world INS systems operate. This brings the aircraft’s routing, fuel predictions, and navigation performance into closer alignment with Simbrief, Navigraph, and real-world flight planning.

Additional improvements to the INS and PMS include fixes to cross-track error indications, refined drift logic, fixes to manual waypoint entry in AUTO mode, and improvements to CDI behavior on long sectors.

The Performance Management System (PMS) also received a number of refinements including more reliable page transitions, refined PERF MGT interactions, and fixes to active mode annunciation behavior.

Systems were also updated in the 1.0.8 release. Electrical system behavior was refined including corrected APU EMER SOV indication behavior, as well as a fix for resets of the Flight Engineer panel lighting following camera changes.

The full change log for the update is at the bottom of this article.

iniBuilds Tristar Operations Pack

A new, paid expansion is coming to the iniBuilds Tristar Airliner. It will be available at a discounted price to existing Tristar customers, while new customers will be able to purchase it as a standalone package.

The Operations Pack transforms the L-1011-500 into a multi-role platform capable of Air-to-Air Refuelling, Strategic Freighter, and Medical and Humanitarian Evacuation configurations.

iniBuilds aims to create a dedicated tanker experience with bespoke systems, cockpit functionality, and operational logic. While development is in its early stages, work is underway on tanker-specific controls, refueling system logic, Flight Engineer functionality, exterior equipment, and operational lighting.

The tanker will also feature a reconfigured interior, replacing the traditional cabin with a more mission-focused layout.
