TorqueSim and partner developer X-Aviation took to the X-Plane forum to announce the upcoming release of their Cessna CitationJet 525 for X-Plane 12.
The Cessna CitationJet 525 is a light business jet part of Cessna’s iconic Citation family, known for their reliability, speed, and sleek design. The CitationJet 525 first took to the skies in 1991, and has been in production since then. The aircraft can carry five passengers in a typical configuration, and has a range of approximately 1,500 nautical miles, roughly the distance from New York City to Denver. The CitationJet 525 is powered by Williams FJ44s engines, features a laminar flow, supercritical wing, and is even certified for singe-pilot operations. As of 2017, over 2,000 CitationJet 525s have been built, with the type logging over five millions hours flown.
The TorqueSim and X-Aviation CitationJet 525 has been a long time coming for X-Plane as the aircraft has been in development for over five years. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel as the development team shared screenshots of the upcoming plane. During these five years, the team has worked to achieve the highest level of detail in the modeling and texturing of the aircraft. With the CitationJet 525 being a 1990s-era aircraft, TorqueSim and X-Aviation took the time to proper highlight the aircraft’s unique semi-glass cockpit. Their rendition features the Honeywell ED600 EADI/EHSI pilot instruments, including a UNS1 FMS, custom autopilot system, and more.
In addition, special attention was placed on the aircraft’s systems, especially the electrical and hydraulic systems. The CitationJet 525 features a complete circuit breaker panel, detailed start-up generators, custom brake and gear logic, a custom pneumatic system, and much more. As the aircraft gets closer to release, TorqueSim and X-Aviation will be releasing videos to showcase these systems in greater detail.
Overall, it is exciting to see the TorqueSim and X-Aviation CitationJet 525 finally nearing the finish line, and it will be interesting to see all the additional previews that come out in the coming weeks.
