After announcing their next project as a nondescript Airbus A330XX, ToLiss has taken to Facebook to provide further details of that release as the Airbus A330-900NEO for X-Plane 11 and 12.
The A330-900 New Engine Option (NEO) is one of Airbus’ latest aircraft as a revamped version of the original A330 which first flew in 1992 with the -300 model entering into service with Air Inter in 1994. Airbus shrunk the -300 to the -200 due to slow sales and an airline demand for a longer range twin engined aircraft.
Fast forward 20 years and again in response to airline pressure from particularly AirAsia, an all Airbus operator, Airbus decided to re-engine the airframe along with moderate updates to ensure the future lifespan of the type. At the same time, Airbus decided to also scrap plans for an Airbus A350-800 and focus on providing airlines with an aircraft of that size and range to compete with the Boeing 787 with the re-engined A330NEO.
ToLiss teased their new project back in April 2024 with details of it being an Airbus A330XX. In their latest post, we are provided with screenshots of a basic textured A330-900 from within X-Plane suggesting that the project is progressing through the development stages quickly. The A330-900 will include the Trent 7000 engines as well as brand new features that we haven’t seen in the Toliss line up such as a head up display, brand new radio panels in the Digital Radio and Audio Integrating Management System (DRAIMS) with more promised.
The team do say that a lot of the work is complete with a focus of texturing to be finalised. The release of the aircraft is planned for 2024 but no exact release date or pricing have been disclosed but FSElite will keep you updated when more information is shared.
