Token Design, an MSFS scenery developer, has released its rendition of Canadian Vernon Regional Airport for MSFS.
Serving as the gateway to the Silver Star Mountain Ski Resort and the nearby town of Vernon, Vernon Regional Airport (CYVK) is a small non-towered general aviation airport located about 2 miles southwest of its namesake town, in British Columbia, Canada. The airport was originally built in 1919, with a Curtis “Jenny” having been the first aircraft to take off and land at the then unpaved airfield. After the outbreak of WWII, the airfield was taken over by the Canadian military and served as a training airfield for new cadets. Following the cessation of hostilities, the airfield was relocated to its current location, the farmlands of the Okanagan Landing.
On an interesting side note, the airport in 1933 served as the starting point for young pilots Eldon Seymour and Jim Duddle who were the first pilots to fly a homebuilt aircraft across the Rockie Mountains from Vernon to Edmonton, Canada.
MSFS scenery developer Token Design has recreated this important British Columbian general aviation airfield for MSFS users to enjoy. In addition to featuring a faithfully recreated rendition of the airfield featuring +30 hand-made 3D buildings, the product comes included with a custom runway and taxiways, corrected and masked ground textures and terrain features, accurately placed static aircraft and ground vehicles, and 4K high-resolution PBR textures. For those who enjoy the occasional match of baseball or pickleball, the developer has even included the Vernon Pickleball court as well as other sports facilities.
Should you want to visit Vernon and the Okanagan Landing, then feel free to pick up Token Design’s Vernon Regional Airport (CYVK) from the developer’s simMarket store page, with the purchase costing you $10.25 Exc. VAT.
