During FlightSimExpo 2024, Tobii announced that their eye-tracking software will be getting a new update called Camera Boost function to improve the overall experience in flight simulators.
Camera Boost works by creating an additional ‘boost’ to your head tracking rotation when you rotate your head towards where you are looking on the screen. This, according to Thomas, makes for a more intuitive and natural feeling when using the Tobii eye and head tracking products.

The Camera Boost feature should eliminate the need for acceleration curves if the user wants to look at something over their shoulder or behind them, for example. Thomas suggested that this would be a very helpful feature for simmers looking to view their surroundings out of the window.
Whilst the feature is not yet available for flight simulators, Tobii are providing a new discount on their Eye Tracker 5 ahead of the rollout. Right now, Camera Boost is coming soon to X-Plane, ARMA III, and Elite Dangerous, with it already being available on DCS, Star Citizen and War Thunder. If you’re hoping for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to join that list, Thomas said during FSExpo that more titles will be compatible soon.

In the meantime, Tobii is offering a saving of over £40 (15%) on new orders for the Eye Tracker 5. You can order it today and get free shipping (to most places in the world). The discount is only valid for a limited amount of time, ending on July 2nd 2024.
Be sure to stay tuned to FSElite for an in-depth review of the eye-tracking tool very soon.
