Tobii is the latest in a slew of developers who have taken to the FSExpo main stage today to announce a new Camera Boost function for their existing eye tracker product, which is used across a variety of simulators including flight sims.

Thomas Papa, Director of Tobii Gaming, delivered the announcement in Las Vegas, along with a video showcase of the new feature in action.

Camera Boost works by creating an additional ‘boost’ to your head tracking rotation when you rotate your head towards where you are looking on the screen. This, according to Thomas, makes for a more intuitive and natural feeling when using the Tobii eye and head tracking products.

The Camera Boost feature should eliminate the need for acceleration curves if the user wants to look at something over their shoulder or behind them, for example. Thomas suggested that this would be a very helpful feature for simmers looking to view their surroundings out of the window.

Right now, camera boost is available for DCS, Star Citizen and War Thunder, with the addition coming soon to X-Plane, ARMA III, and Elite Dangerous. There was no word on when the feature may be introduced for Microsoft Flight Simulator, although Thomas said that he was looking forward to announcing more titles that the feature would be compatible with soon.
