TFDi Design Releases the MD-11 for MSFS and P3D

TFDi Design has released its highly anticipated MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D v4-v6.

The MD-11 is a wide-body tri-jet airliner developed by McDonnell Douglas, later acquired by Boeing. It is perfectly suited for a range of operation types, including short and long-haul travel. Its tri-engine design means it can cross large areas without ETOPS and is incredibly powerful, even at heavier loads.

Initially, the aircraft by TFDi Design will come with the General Electric engine set, with a free upcoming to follow to include the Pratt & Whitney engines. Expect to see and feel differences in the aircraft, depending on the engine type. Furthermore, you can choose to simulate cargo or passenger flights thanks to both variants being available on day one (more details on pricing below).

As for system depth, expect custom-modelled flight models, hydraulics, electrical, and AFS systems. The onboard displays are modelled after the CRT screens found in the 1990s aircraft, whilst the FMS has been custom-built to work just like the real thing.  Both manual and automatic modes are simulated, operating the advanced onboard systems seamlessly.

The cockpit comes with full 4K texturing and highly detailed modelling, whilst the passenger/cargo cabins have been designed to be as realistic as possible. Outside, you will find comprehensive modelling, wing-flex and a sound-set suited for each engine type. The onboard EFB will also help you load passengers, fuel and change options on-the-fly.

In terms of pricing, the Base Pack will cost you $69.99 USD. The base pack will either be the cargo or the passenger variant, but you can add the one you did not already purchase for an additional $9.99 USD. Below is the breakdown:

  • Base Pack (Cargo or Passenger): $69.99 USD
  • Expansion (The One You Did Not Purchase Already): $9.99

You can read more on the official TFDi Design website.

In the future, an “Extended Simulation Package” will come. Due to release in late 2024, the Extended Simulation Package will add random and simulated failures along with partial circuit breaker functionality.
