TFDi Design has shared a new development update on its MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The new update focuses on what is to come with a new build, including brand-new sounds, improved modelling, and flight dynamics.
Starting with the new sounds, the team has been working with developer Echo 19 in order to create an overhauled sound package. This includes brand-new recordings, improved mechanical sounds, APU sound improvements, and also additional ground roll, wind sounds, and more. You can listen to a sample of it below. It’s worth noting that these sounds are specific to the Microsoft Flight Simulator version of the MD-11.
In addition to the sounds, the team has been overhauling the exterior modelling. It is taking a bit longer than hoped as Ozzy from TFDi Design has been “going over the model with a fine-toothed comb”. Missing ports have been added, smaller objects added, and overall detail has been improved. Soon it will be off to the paint shop to get texturing updated. You can see some previews of the updated modelling below.

As far as systems go, there has been a review of various systems, including the ILS system. 10 separate issues are now resolved and the experience is much more reliable than before. The engines have also been re-tuned for even further refinements.
TFDi Design did not share exactly when updates for the MD-11 would drop, but we will let you know as soon as we hear anything new.
