Newcomer developer Texan Simulations has provided FSElite an exclusive preview of their upcoming scenery for MSFS, KHOU. This scenery will be the developer’s second scenery for MSFS.
William P. Hobby Airport, often referred to as Hobby or Houston Hobby, was Houston’s first commercial airport and now serves as a major base for low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines. The airport is only 7 miles outside downtown Houston and became the first North American airport to receive a five-star rating from Skytrax in 2022. That same year, Southwest Airlines announced a $250 million, five-year terminal expansion project that will build seven new gates to better meet the increasing passenger demand.

Texan Simulations has been working on KHOU since Summer 2022, and they are finally approaching the finish line. The scenery will feature over 50 hand-modeled buildings equipped with PBR textures, custom animated jetways, accurate handmade taxi signs, HD custom orthographic imagery, and more. In addition, to ensure the scenery stays relevant, the scenery will reflect the current construction plans, including the removal of runway 17/35. Overall, Texan Simulations’ KHOU scenery appears to be coming together nicely, and it will be interesting to see the final result in the coming months. According to the developer, we can expect a release in late March or early April.
You can visit Texan Simulations’ website for more information on their KHOU scenery and to read their developer newsletter.
FSElite will continue to monitor the development of the scenery and provide any future updates.
