TerraBuilder has announced SpacePort, a new add-on currently in development for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 that aims to bring high-fidelity spaceflight simulation into the platform.
Designed as a fully featured spaceflight module, SpacePort introduces realistic astrodynamic and ballistic physics to enable simulated space launches and orbital operations within the MSFS environment. The add-on makes use of the simulator’s existing visuals, assets, and ecosystem, extending the platform beyond conventional aviation and into spaceflight.
Development has reached a stage where the team is confident enough to showcase work-in-progress content, including footage of a Space Shuttle launch operating inside Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024. Additional preview videos and updates are planned as development continues.
TerraBuilder is also positioning SpacePort as a platform for third-party developers. A dedicated SpacePort SDK is planned, allowing developers to create and launch custom rockets, boosters, payloads, space station modules, and other space-related hardware. According to the team, this is intended to open the door to a wide range of future spaceflight content within the MSFS ecosystem.
More details and further demonstrations are expected as development progresses. In the mean time, you can check out these preview videos below and see it working in the simulator.
