A milestone indeed, we now have a Synthetic Vision System for FSX/P3D that actually works. It will be integrated into the IRIS PC-24 add-on for those of you interested, but I imagine it could possibly be integrated into other aircraft down the road (purely speculative). For those of you that do not know what synthetic vision is, it is a “synthetic” creation of terrain displayed on the PFD. It is very popular, especially in the Garmin PFD/MFD suites, offering pilots the ability to see the terrain through IMC and dark conditions.
According to the developer, there will be a 3-5 FPS loss when using this with “quality vs performance configurable settings”.
This is indeed a very cool new thing that will hopefully be extended across many other aircraft in the future.
