Synaptic has released another pair of updates for its A220, with versions 1.0.9 and 1.0.9a focusing primarily on improving performance and ironing out some issues with the aircraft’s avionics.
The biggest change with 1.0.9 is under the hood. Synaptic has reworked how the aircraft’s systems communicate with the avionics, reducing the amount of data being passed between them. According to the team, testing showed fewer stutters, better stability and an improvement to base frame rates, particularly when sitting on the ground.
There are plenty of fixes for those flying the aircraft as well. VNAV should now correctly switch to VFLC after passing the acceleration altitude and transition to VPATH at the top of descent. LPV approaches have also been fixed so vertical guidance remains after crossing the final approach fix, whilst localizer tracking has been adjusted to prevent some of the more aggressive turns seen during final approach.
A handful of other fixes have been made to the FMS, flight plan uplinks, performance entries, barometric settings and displays. The audio control panel volume knobs are now functional too, whilst landing and taxi lights should appear brighter in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Following 1.0.9, Synaptic quickly pushed out version 1.0.9a through iniManager. The hotfix makes another round of performance improvements, this time specifically targeting main-thread time, and fixes an issue with NAV1/2 tuning following a nav-to-nav transfer.
For those who purchased the A220 through the Marketplace, the changes from 1.0.9a will be rolled into the upcoming 1.0.10 update.
