Synaptic A220 Expansion Controversy

Eagle-eyed enthusiasts of the efficient new narrowbody A220 from Synaptic Simulations took to the developer’s discord to voice their concerns with a change in verbiage surrounding the developer’s plans for future expansions.

Initially, customers believed that the A220-100 and ACJ would land in their hangars as a free update, and they were surprised to see a sudden shift in the language on the FAQ section of the Synaptic Simulations Website.

In response to community controversy, Harsh, CEO at Synaptic Simulations issued a statement saying:

We previously communicated that the A220-100 would be provided as a free update for owners of the A220-300 as our original thinking was for one pack at a higher price. Our recent FAQ change contradicted that commitment, and we understand why the community is disappointed. We have decided to break down the way the product will be shipped. Over the course of development, the scope of the A220-100 and ACJ package has expanded significantly. It will include:

  • The A220-100 and ACJ variants
  • Multiple newly modelled cabin configurations
  • A fully integrated HUD
  • Functional steep-approach capability
  • Fully functional circuit breakers throughout the electrical and avionics bays

The full avionics bay circuit breaker simulation, HUD and other shared improvements will also be provided to A220-300 owners at no additional cost. Steep-approach capability will remain exclusive to the applicable variant. The A220-300 and A220-100/ACJ will therefore be sold as separate packages. However, owners of either package will be able to purchase the other for a small upgrade fee.

We should have communicated this change openly instead of revising the FAQ and expecting customers to discover it before making a purchase. We appreciate the community holding us accountable, and we sincerely apologize for not communicating the change properly from the outset.

We’re looking forward to the launch of the A220-300 tomorrow and to a positive release week ahead. We remain committed to being transparent with the community and to supporting and improving the Synaptic A220 for everyone.
