Calum here, again, with another update. Simply put, this has been a really tough week. What was meant to be an exciting and vibrant beginning to the next chapter for us has turned into a huge headache. This post isn’t about the challenges, but I wanted to give a brief update on a few things.
There are still some issues
I’m working with a number of people now to resolve the main issue: our caching structure. It may surprise some of you to know that I’m not an expert on caching! Prior to the launch, I was pretty confident everything was correctly configured and that the cache would work to have a fast site, but also be dynamic when we needed it to be. Running a big website like FSElite, with as many users as we have, with as much content as we have, is a demanding task.
We’ve hired some experts in the field now to help combat the final remaining issues to help prevent these annoying issues. It may take a few days to become super stable, but the work has started.
Some of the main issues right now:
- Page speed. It isn’t the greatest and we’re working on it.
- Ensuring content is updated. This is an issue with the caching purge not taking place correctly. We’re working on that, too.
Other annoyances
- Some dark mode bugs – I’ll work on these once the caching is sorted and the site is stable
- Some missing links (e.g. P3Dv5 products)
- Missing old posts
- Incorrect product info/links
Again, we are working on these things as quickly as possible. We have human limits and we don’t always poses the skills to do everything as quick as you’d like.
To developers
I have your emails about press releases, product releases, etc. Sorry I haven’t gotten around to posting the news or replying – this sadly has taken a backseat until we can get the platform stable. This makes sense and once we’re happy, we’ll backdate the info and continue to go back to the day-to-day.
Finally…
Sorry again. Honestly; this is super unprofessional on our part and not what we had worked so hard to do. We are confident in the website and its design – just need to ensure things run smoothly before we can take full advantage of it.
Hopefully, my next update will be more positive.
P.S. I’ll be sharing a full detailed blog of our troubles soon, along with our launch party and other cool bits.
