SoFly has announced a brand new airport coming soon to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport (LWOH). Ohrid Airport (for short) is North Macedonia’s second busiest airport and sees airlines like Wizz Air, TUI, LOT Polish Airlines, and more visit the airport.
The airport itself is set alongside the Galičica Mountain range, with one of the approaches taking place right over Lake Ohrid. It offers both a challenge and scenic views throughout the year.
SoFly says that they have “learned from[its] Cardiff Airport” release and applied many new technologies and techniques to make this airport more enriched with detail. One of the key features is an all-new animation system that they have implemented. Approaching a barrier in the car park will automatically open the gates (no need for a key control). Another example is multiple doors in the airport terminal and nearby offices will also automatically open as you approach. You can see these examples in the short video below.
Ohrid Airport by SoFly will also feature dynamic snow build-ups during winter months, highly detailed interiors, animated hangar doors (based on time of day), as well as custom taxiway signage and ground polygon.
Expect the airport to release later this month for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. A free update will be made available for a full Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 release when it releases on November 19th 2024.
