If you enjoyed 24 hours of VATSIM over the weekend, a new long-haul event is on the horizon to keep you busy next Saturday.
Dutch VACC are organising Caribbean Shuttle this weekend March 11. The event is returning to VATSIM after a 2-year break and at the time of writing still has approximately 140 slot pairs going free.
The event may also serve as a good warm up for VATSIM’s premier Cross the Pond event, which is coming up in 3 weeks on April 1.
Pilots can take their pick of London, Paris or Amsterdam as a departure point, landing in one of either Sint Maarten, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe, Barbados, Martinique or Curaçao.
All of the destinations have historic and cultural links with the UK, Netherlands and France, and many of them are served by real-world routes, which is great news if you enjoy simulating real-world ops!
KLM used to operate the 747 from Schiphol to Sint Maarten, then to Curacao and finally back to Amsterdam thrice weekly in a famous multi-sector rotation. We wonder who will be the first pilot to attempt to recreate this on VATSIM!
The event is being principally organised by Dutch VACC, although it brings together VATSIM Caribbean, French VACC and VATSIM UK for 12 hours of continuous air-traffic control coverage over the ocean to the famous sunny getaways.

Niels, Dutch VACC’s Public Relations Manager, said: “We are happy to bring this event back after a two year break and we hope you will enjoy flying it as much as we have enjoyed putting it together!”.
