Skyline Simulations has recently released Scandinavian Mountains Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator, allowing users to connect many European cities to the heart of Scandinavia’s alpine ski area in an accurate rendition of the airport.
Scandinavian Mountains Airport (ICAO: ESKS) is located in Sweden near the Norwegian border and amongst four large ski resorts boasting over 254 slopes in an area known as Sälen. The brand-new airport opened in December 2019 and saw 14314 passengers during its first winter season. A first of its kind, Scandinavian Mountains Airport was designated to be operated solely by a virtual air traffic control tower rather than a conventional manned control tower. The airport has one 8202ft (2500m) runway, including ILS Category III and RNP approaches.
Skyline Simulations has paid particular attention to the four-gate terminal with a fully modeled interior, including proper signage, animated passengers throughout, and even a luggage animation. Being the first virtual control tower, it is nice to see a special banner near the restaurant calling out the unique operations while exploring the terminal.
This airport, and Skyline Simulations’ other sceneries, may be found on the developer’s website for €19.80.
