Skyline Simulations has today announced, via their Facebook page, that they’re currently working on a couple of the often forgotten models of the Dash 8 family for X-Plane. The developer, primarily known for their scenery products, used the announcement to show off some early renders of the Dash 8 200 and 300 models that are currently being worked on, while also outlining their intentions for the project.
In the post, Skyline Sim stated that they intend to produce a “study level” simulation of the aircraft with “accurate flight dynamics and systems simulation”. This includes the UNS-1 Universal FMS System that the real-world aircraft is equipped with.
This should hopefully come as welcome news to X-Plane users and fans of the Dash 8, who have been crying out for an overhaul of FlyJSim’s Q400 for quite some time.
Additionally, the developers promise an accurate and true 3D model which they say “will be extremely faithful to the real aircraft and will be impeccably detailed at a standard the XPlane [sic] community has come to expect from developers”. While this may sound like it’s going to take up a large amount of the developers’ time, they do assure their fans that their current scenery projects are not being delayed as a result, and work continues on projects such as KORD and an upcoming CVG update.
The only question that comes to mind with this announcement is if Skyline Sim are producing the Q200/Q300 models, or their earlier, non-ANVS brothers.
