Former legacy platform scenery developer SkyDesigners has recently made a reappearance within the developer community, taking to their Facebook page to market their newest project, Base Aérienne 102 Dijon-Longvic (LFSD), currently in development for MSFS.
Commonly referred to as Dijon Air Base, Base Aérienne 102 Dijon-Longvic (LFSD) was a former Armée de l’Air military installation, located 2nm south-east of the French village of Longvic. Following its initial opening as a civilian airfield in 1910, the French government was quick to establish a military presence on the field, opening a formal military airbase on March 24th, 1914. The airbase saw extensive service during both World War I & II, with numerous Allied bomber and fighter squadrons having been stationed on its grounds.
Following the end of WWII, the airbase found itself in a state of severe neglect, and it took the French government four years to repair the inflicted damage, with it only being returned to service in 1949. Interestingly, Base Aérienne 102 was the first French airbase to see jet aircraft stationed on its site and saw numerous TV appearances on the famous French television series: “Sky Fighters.” Following the French Air Force’s reorganization, the airbase was initially put on reserve status before formally being closed down in 2016. Following its official closure, the airfield eventually got repurposed for civilian operations, now only serving occasional business and general aviation traffic.
French scenery developer SkyDesigners has now provided military aviation enthusiasts with their first glimpse of its rendition of this historic French airbase, set around the year 2010, within MSFS. Although not providing any details regarding product features, the developer claims that the scenery should be available on SimMarket for purchase shortly. Also, the developer refrained from providing interested readers with a price just yet.
Please feel free to check out SkyDesigners’ Facebook post linked here for additional in-sim previews of the scenery. As always, we will keep you updated as to when SkyDesigners finally release the product.
