In an exciting announcement from SimWorks Studios and PILOT’S, it has been confirmed that the two seasoned developers are collaborating together to bring the Dash 7 to Microsoft Flight Simulator. This regional aircraft is known for its incredible short take-off and landing performance and efficiency to serve routes with smaller load factors.
According to the announcement posts, SimWorks Studios will be working on the aircraft’s 3D modelling, animations, systems and flight dynamics. The aim is to make the aircraft experience as realistic and authentic as possible, whilst also being accessible for new simmers. In the announcement, both companies said, “PILOT’S and SWS are very excited to help bring this aircraft into Microsoft Flight Simulator and we hope that you are as well!“
To celebrate the announcement, a number of early previews were shared that highlights the 3D modelling work that has been so far completed for the aircraft.
The de Havilland Canada Dash 7 is a four-engined turboprop passenger aircraft that is often regarded as the ‘forgotten Dash’ in the lineup of varients produced by the aircraft manufacturer. A total of 113 have been produced and it currently flies within a number of airlines’ fleets around the world. The aircraft can carry 50 passengers and fly 690nm with a full load.
No time frames were mentioned, but this is a project we’ll be following with interest.
