Following a slightly controversial move from SIMMARKET, the publisher has appeared to have listened to feedback and has re-enabled downloads from their website again.
On March 21st, SIMMARKET moved all downloads from their website into their all-in-one application. The app itself is designed to make finding products in the SIMMARKET library easy, whilst providing a convenient way to download and install products. However, the move to downloading products via the app only was met with some controversy, with some users saying they wouldn’t use SIMMARKET anymore due to the change.
When we spoke to SIMMARKET about why they had enabled this functionality, a spokesperson said they wanted to focus on just one application to ensure enhanced security and accessibility for customers. This U-turn appears to be in response to the outcry from customers who wanted to see a return to the optional use of the application to download products.
Whilst SIMMARKET has made downloads active again via their website, they have said that developers who have made their products install via SIMMARKETS’ “simInstaller technology” will still only be available via the SIMMARKET App. It’s worth mentioning that all past products are still downloadable through the application as well.
The application itself allows you to discover the whole library of products on SIMMARKET, whilst downloading them directly to your PC. It has other functionality such as checking the latest products on sale, submitting support tickets and creating your very own wishlist.
You can download the SIMMARKET app for free from their website.
