Scenery developer ShortFinal Design has announced that they will be bringing Hakodate Airport to X-Plane 11 as freeware. In a post on Facebook, ShortFinal Design announced that the past few months have been spent learning new tools for PBR implementation and that Hakodate Airport (RJCH) was the testbed for this.
Using Substance Painter (described as the industry standard for creating PBR textures), the airport will come fully equipped with high-resolution textures taking advantage of the technology. The 3D modelling included will be made with proper PBR materials offering users a more life-like experience for the airport in the simulator.
Hakodate Airport is a regional airport in Japan with a single runway. It serves a variety of airlines including ANA, Japan Airlines and Air do on numerous domestic and international routes. It’s northerly location means you get a very different flying experience than flying into busy hubs such as Tokyo.
According to the Facebook post, Hakodate Airport for X-Plane 11 will release in about a month. We’ll keep you updated on the freeware product from ShortFinal Design.
