Scenery developer, Short Final Design – otherwise known as MisterX, has released their freeware project, RJCH Hakodate Airport for X-Plane.
Hakodate Airport is located just east of Hakodate, a city in Hokkaido, the second largest island in Japan. The airport opened in 1961 with a single runway and later saw improvements to extend the runway and open a new terminal building as recent as 2005. In 1995, an All Nippon Airways flight 857 from Tokyo to Hakodate was held by the hijacker on the runway for 15 hours. The issue was resolved the next day with no casualties. The airport today sees nearly 1.8 million passenger movements to destinations to Taipei, Tokyo, Osaka and Hangzhou.
Short Final Design has recreated Hakodate Airport with their trademark level of detail to include high-fedelity models of all airport buildings equipped with PBR texturing, high definition ground markings and ground textures with rain effects, SAM enabled jetways as well as custom mesh around the airport.
To add Hakodate Airport to your scenery library for X-Plane, you can download the release from the X-Plane.org forum.
