To follow on from their electrical system previews, over on the X-Plane.org forum, Rotate has dropped two new system previews of their work-in-progress MD-11 for X-Plane 11. These previews are the second in a series of previews from Rotate exhibiting the work done related to systems and functionality.
Rotate has modelled all fuel tanks and relevant compartments accurately into the MD11. Temperature, quantity and pressure for each respective tank is computed separately and processed in the custom Fuel System Controller. This controller contains logic which simulates most of the system’s functions including fuel scheduling, crossfeed, CG management, ballast fuel management, anti-ice re-circulation, tip transfer, fuel dump, and abnormal operation.
Manual mode, failures and electrical dependencies are also simulated. You can find the complete list of independently simulated components at the end of this article.
In the screenshots below you can see the system in action during a normal start sequence and a fuel dump. So far, the systems we’ve seen to date appear to be very high-fidelity leaving us to expect an in-depth simulation of the MD-11.
