REX Simulations has just wrapped up their latest live stream on Twitch where they spoke about their upcoming products, updates and also answered some questions from the community.
REX opened up the live stream by re-capping the products that they offer or will be offering in the future. They broke it down into four sections:
- Atmosphere
- Airports
- Scenery
- Environment
This structure is how they broke down their presentation.
In terms of atmosphere, Sky Force 3D and Weather Force make up that element. For Sky Force 3D, based on the community feedback, there will be a range of new models and textures coming soon with Creative Update 1. This update is regarded as a large update. Although it was announced a while back, Weather Force is very nearly complete. It was confirmed that Weather Force will be a free add-on for those who already own Sky Force 3D.
One of the newest features about what Weather Force will achieve is called “Weather Cell Intelligence.” This means that during a weather update, the clouds and weather will not ‘drop off’ and instead move in relation to the weather nearby. Reed and Tim said that the movement is based on winds aloft data.
Moving on from weather, the team then gave a brief update on WorldWide Airports HD. Hopefully, in a month or so, technical update 3.1 will be available for the product. Following that, Creative Update 2.0 will include a range of new textures including airport vehicles.
REX Simulations announced a brand new product called Terra Force. The product will bring Ultra-high definition of photographic scenery to the simulator. Starting in the US, the scenery will be available on a per-State basis. Installing the software will be simple as you can download a single client and then purchase and install directly from the Terra Force app.
Keeping with new announcements, REX also announced their official intentions on going into X-Plane content. Although no solid details were given, they did confirm that X-Force will focus on atmosphere, airports and scenery – comparable to the FSX/P3D counterparts.
The final part of their PowerPoint was about Environment Force. A brand new update was released for the product overnight, which addresses many community comments, in particular, to do with HDR.
REX then held a brief Q&A session. The only point worth mentioning from it is that they are still working with PMDG to bring weather radar compatibility with the 747 Queen of the Skies II. They are also hoping that FSLabs will “rethink” their position in the future and also look into supporting REX products with their aircraft, too.
Finally, when asked about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, team REX all agreed that they are “optimistic about it” and what the future holds.
The concludes the stream. You can rewatch it via their Twitch channel.
