With Microsoft announcing that they would be entering the Flight Simulation market again, the team at REX were curious to know how the community were feeling about the news. To that end, they shared a survey asking people what they thought. Those results are now in and have shared them with the wider community.
In total, 640 people took part in the 12 question-survey. The questions varied from asking what simulator users currently use and also how long they use the simulator for per week. The questions then turned attention to the new simulator itself. One question asked “If the new simulator permits the developer of 3rd party add-ons, select which is most important to you to be developed?” By far the most popular response was the addition of aircraft with over 400 votes. The next most requested add-on requested was scenery with 79. It’s interesting to note that the users who took part in this survey said there was more than a 50% chance they would continue to use their current primary simulator even if FS2020 supported third-party add-ons.

REX Simulations are going through a process of change to how they engage with the community right now. A few weeks ago, several of REX’s Facebook pages were shut down to try and consolidate where users could get information and support. That today took the next step with the announcement of that the support forums would be closing to make way for a new ticketing system. The support forums will officially close on August 31st 2019.
As for the community aspect, REX Simulations have decided that Discord will now be the best platform for people to engage with one another. You can join the REX Simulations Discord server by clicking this link.
