REX Simulations has launched Atmos CORE for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a new visual tuning utility that allows you to take full control of the atmosphere inside the simulator. Building on their long history of weather and environment tools, REX says Atmos CORE is designed to offer “engine-level” adjustments rather than surface-level shader effects, giving you a more authentic and stable way to enhance your visuals.
Advanced Atmospheric Control
Atmos CORE introduces a series of editors that let users refine everything from global lighting to weather depiction. The Weather Editor allows you to adjust the way live weather is rendered, scaling cloud and visibility effects for a more natural look. The Atmosphere Editor digs deeper, with controls for Rayleigh scattering, haze, pollutants, fog density, and even precise RGB colour tone adjustments. Finally, the Environment Editor provides tweaks for global ambience, letting users set up conditions that suit their style of flying.

All changes are applied in real time, meaning you can adjust the look and feel of their world without leaving the cockpit. Presets can also be saved and shared, with local and cloud backup support built in. If needed, a simple reset function reverts the simulator back to its default state instantly.
Integration and Compatibility
Unlike shader-based solutions such as ReShade, Atmos CORE works natively within the MSFS engine. This makes it compatible with Live Weather, ActiveSky FS, and other weather add-ons without impacting performance. REX has also optimised Atmos CORE specifically for MSFS 2024, ensuring it works smoothly alongside the platform’s upgraded atmospheric rendering.
You can buy it from various stores, including REX’s own ($14.50, tax excluded), Contrail, Aerosoft, Orbx, and SIMMARKET.
