Release Date “Soon” as CSS say Boeing 737 Classic “Systems Are Ready”

Aircraft developer CSS (Commercial Simulation Systems) say their upcoming Boeing 737 Classic range for Microsoft Flight Simulator is edging ever closer to release, announcing in a Discord post that ‘all aircraft systems are ready’ and are ‘sure that we will be able to announce the release date soon’.

The project, which FSElite recently covered, is close to completion and the update announces that although the team are currently working on the aircraft’s EFB (electronic flight bag), the majority of the systems are complete.

In the post, they write, “All aircraft systems are ready and undergoing internal testing. The external model is finished, and the animation is almost finished. External pax models of versions -300 and -400 and winglets are also ready.”

The team will be releasing the -500 variant first, then followed by the -300 and -400 models. Despite initially releasing in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, they say eventually they will bridge the gap to the new sim and make the products available in 2024, with ‘no additional charge for users’.

CSS intend to launch the 737 Classic in what they call a unique sales model, which involves a subscription system. In their own words, “You pay for the subscription and if it expires, the aircraft systems cease to be active. All you need is to simply renew the subscription. If you bought the product without a subscription, it will always work.”

The price range, as listed on their FAQ section of the Discord page, states the following prices

  • monthly subscription (30 days) $5
  • annual subscription (365 days) $50
  • purchase without a subscription $120

With progress of the aircraft systems and testing well underway, it seems that the team’s assertion that a release date is imminent could well be true. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting new project.
