After all the silence surrounding this project and the quite royal delay on their 787 Ultimate series, it should hardly come as a surprise. However, for those that were still hopeful, QualityWings has come out with a statement officially cancelling their 737 Classic Ultimate series.
Background
QW states that this project was picked up in 2013 with developers from Enigma Simulations. This studio merged into QW and continued working on the 737. However, over the years, members started leaving the project. In May 2017 there was only one developer left on this team, hardly enough to make an entire plane. The 787 team had no interest and was far too busy on their plane to pick up the 737. As such, the studio decided tho cancel this project.
Future
Does this mean you’ll never get to see the 737 Classic Ultimate? Not necessarily. QW states that they have been negotiating with another ‘respected developer’. It may be possible that this developer/studio will pick up the project and finish it at last. There is no confirmation of this however, so don’t get too excited yet. Having that said, QW states they ‘strongly suspects that you will see this project picked up’.
Updates
To wrap it all up, QW gives a bit of insight into whats going on with their other plane(s). The 787 Ultimate will soon receive it’s second hotfix. According to them, this will be the last hotfix before starting to work on their first service pack and starting to “check out” the 787 in Prepar3d v4. Just like everything with QW, this will take a long time.
Furthermore, it may seem that we will get some updates for the 757 and 146. Nothing definitive has been confirmed yet, but they do state the team is also looking at coming upgrades for these planes. We can only speculate from here on out, but after QW had previously stated that the 757 and 146 would not receive support anymore, this can only be good news.
