After the issues earlier this week, it has been confirmed that projectFLY will be going offline tonight at 23:00z this evening (Sunday 15th Dec) for an unknown period of time whilst data is migrated. The reason the time frame is unknown is due to the data being almost 1TB in size.
The business’ social media account said that this is being done in preparation for the release of the long-awaited projectFLY V4.
projectFLY V4 was due to launch originally in June 2019, before being pushed back due to uncontrollable reasons. It was then given a second launch window of December 8th, but again was hit by delays due to a service supplier (Aviation Cloud) being unavailable to give Mettar Simulations the green light due to being away on a business trip.
Many fans are looking forward to the release of projectFLY version 4 for all of the previously announced new features (video) such as an in-built chat system, an achievement system, unlimited use of the dispatcher tool, and up to date airline schedules. Many of these features will be behind a subscription service. Previously, it was announced there will be a free tier, a supporter tier (£0.99) and one for the dispatcher tool (amongst other features) will cost £6.99 per month.
Update: Matt has Tweeted at us to say that the £6.99 is subject to change since the announcement back in June.
