Earlier this week, Aerosoft shared a few new images for its upcoming Twin Otter aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The new images shared by Mathijs Kok on the forums as part of the endeavour to keep the community updated with progress on their upcoming projects. The new images shared were taken from within the simulator to highlight the details currently being added to the external model of the aircraft.
The new previews show us the amphibian variant of the Twin Otter. The floats attached to the aircraft mean you can take off from a runway on land, but then touchdown in bodies of water. This is demonstrated by the previews shared.
Alongside the in-sim previews, we were treated to some renders of the cockpit which is in development. You can see particular attention to detail on the rudder pedals of the aircraft.
The Twin Otter is renowned for its versatility. Thanks to the numerous attachment or configurations found with the Twin Otter, it can withstand almost any environment type. The tough airframe can be adapted for land or sea, as well as being able to touch down on almost any type of environment. Furthermore, the short take-off and landing characteristics of the plane means the possibilities on where you can go with the plane are almost limitless.
We already know that once released, the Twin Otter will be sold as a “medium-priced product”. We have seen plenty of development updates already, including in the cockpit of the aircraft and renders of the virtual cabin which will vary depending on the variant.
Whilst a release date is unknown, it was reconfirmed that a release is certainly on the cards for this year. The team is awaiting some updates for the simulator to address how turboprops are handled, but otherwise, things seem to be progressing well for the aircraft. As usual, we’ll keep you informed of progress.
If the Twin Otter isn’t your thing, then why not check out the recent previews of the CRJ 900/1000 for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
