Prepar3D v5.2 Hotfix 1 Now Available

Lockheed Martin has just released a brand new hotfix for Prepar3D v5.2. Hotfix 1 addresses some of the higher priority items on the bug and issue list that have been identified since the release of Prepar3D v5.2 earlier this month. The hotfix is primarily aimed at fixing various issues or scenarios where the sim may crash.

A new configuration option has been added to use the HTML5 Menu and Information text, which now defaults to ‘off’ for those who had issues with that. The default cloud visuals have also been updated to improve the appearance of volumetric clouds in the simulator. Other issues fixed include issues with the weather UI, crashes with AMD graphic cards and also issues with vsync. Lockheed Martin says that this hotfix includes performance improvements for autogen buildings and also for those using Oculus VR headsets.

To install the latest hotfix, you can choose to redownload Prepar3D v5.2 in full, or you can download just the specific standalone installers. The vast majority of the fixes and improvements come from the client installer, with a simple texture fix only for the scenery installer. Those who use the SDK may also want to download the SDK installer. You will be able to download those installers from your account page.

When installing, Lockheed Martin strong suggests that you run the “Delete Generated Files” shortcut from the main installation directory before running the simulator for the first time after installing the hotfix update. If you are unable to run this specific command, Lockheed Martin have a solution to delete a specific file to ensure you have a smooth update process. You can read about it on the announcement page.

It’s worth noting that the latest hotfix may mean you might have to wait for third-party developers to update their products in order to be used in the latest build of Prepar3D.
