PMDG Updates 777 Line of Aircraft on MSFS

PMDG has issued a brand-new update for its line of 777 aircraft on Microsoft Flight Simulator [2020]. The new update is a clean-up following the release of the 777F earlier this month, but also impacts the 777-300ER as well.

The changelog (below) gives us an indication of what has changed. As mentioned, it’s nothing ground-breaking, but does fix a number of bugs and visual issues that were found after the release of the 777F. A lot of the fixes seem to be in the virtual cockpit for modelling and texturing, along with some external modelling errors.

777 on MSFS 2024 Update

In the post from Robert about the update, he also gave an update on the situation of the 777 range coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. He said that whilst there was progress with the recent update of the simulator, there are still other issues preventing the team from building and testing the plane in the new sim.

A memory allocation error present in MSFS 2020 continues to exist in MSFS 2024 and brings development to a halt. Robert said that WASM projects relying on an advanced memory allocation technique fail when compiling the code. PMDG, along with other developers, have been voicing this to Asobo to fix and hope to see progress soon.

Minor 737 Update

Finally, a minor 737 update is due to be issued to PMDG customers via a micro-update that fixes some tablet connectivity issues. Robert didn’t give a timeframe, but will be issued just as soon as it’s validated to resolve the issue.
