PMDG Update on 747-8 and General Items

The guys over at PMDG have had an incredibly busy year. Back in January, they released the 747-400 and a few months later they brought the DC-6 to FSX and P3D. Of course during this time, they delivered on their promise to bring their latest products to Prepar3D V4. Oh, and they announced that the JS41 would be coming to P3D for the first time.

With so much going on, PMDG CEO, Robert S Randazzo took to the forums to give a quick update on the 747-8 and other general bits and bobs.

He went on to say with the team experiencing a really busy year, they have all taken their well earned vacation, but are back responding to support tickets and updating their products based on a few reports. The first of those updates we saw over the weekend through their Ops Center.

The first major item on the list was to introduce their new support team member. With their user base growing, it was time for them to find someone else to assist. They would like you all to welcome Chris Makris to the team who has already proven himself to the PMDG team that he’s ready for the challenge and has integrated well. We wish Chris well and we are sure he’ll do a great job.

Obviously the big ticket item on the list is details about their anticipated 747-8. The release of the 747-400 has been well received, but the newer generation Boeing aircraft has plenty of variances that the team are really enjoying working with something so familiar, yet so new.

Most excitingly, RSR teased that new functionality will be added to the 747-8 that wasn’t accomplished during the 747-400 development cycle, but didn’t say what it was. Not even a teaser image! He did say that whilst they are putting in significant work into the aircraft, he’s not too sure when it will enter the beta process. Once it does happen, we will be told.

In the days to come, Robert will be back to detail some new items of interest and once the 747-8 enters beta, we’ll be privy to some previews.
