Robert Randazzo from PMDG has shared a range of information surrounding the remaining 737 variants on MSFS 2024, as well as information on the 777 sound pack delays.
737 for MSFS 2024 Updated Release Schedule
Whilst PMDG is not normally known for giving release dates too far out, Robert felt he had a great deal of confidence in the development cycle and felt it was appropriate to share that with the community. However, a number of unfortunate hiccups occurred prior to the release of the 737-900 and the 737-600, which were previously slated for a January 2026 release.
Explaining it in detail, Robert said that a “critical” bug was found in the 737-800, causing the sim to pause/unpause in certain circumstances. This has since been fixed, but then fixing one thing caused an issue elsewhere. Just as they were about to release, a third-party provider experienced a hacking, resulting in their email delivery service being down (note: this did not directly affect PMDG or PMDG customers). Irrespective, PMDG now seem reasonably confident they can now begin to roll the planes out.
The 737-900 for MSFS 2024 will be the first to release “next week”. This is provided that there are no unforeseen circumstances to prevent the release. The good news is that the team has already submitted it to the in-sim Marketplace to try and make it available to those customers within a shorter period following the website release. As for the 737-600, this will follow a little longer in the oven. Finally, the 737-700 is due to go into beta testing in mid-February and could still make its original aim of a Feb 2026 release. But this does require a perfect beta testing process.
737 Visual Update
In December 2025, Robert made it clear that PMDG wanted to release the 737-800 for MSFS 2024 before the holiday season in order for people to enjoy the plane. There is a significant update for the exterior model that has been long in development but just wasn’t quite ready for the release in 2025. That said, the team has continued to refine the model.
Beginning with build 18 and beyond, PMDG will roll in those changes. They anticipate that by the time the 737-700 releases, the exterior visual update will be complete. This will signiciantly change the model geometry, textures, animations, and new exterior features. PMDG will put together a highlight post to walk us through the changes.
PMDG DC-6
PMDG did provide a small update regarding the DC-6 for MSFS 2020/2024. Firstly, the DC-6 has been moved to Operations Centre v3.0. As for MSFS 2024, the team says that once the 737 is out of the way, they can bring focus back to the project. It won’t be a rebuild, but instead will be a port. “Won’t be long now, your patience is appreciated,” Robert said on the forums.
PMDG 777 Sound Pack
It had been announced a long time back that a new 777 sound pack would be created for the 777 series on MSFS. Robert mentioned the development of these new sounds a while back, but has now admitted that he made a mistake in telling us when he did.
He explains that whilst development is still ongoing, moving internal resources meant that the development on the sound package is taking longer than expected. He originally heard the soundpack and was so impressed that he green-lit the project. But delays in the 777 meant it got pushed into the 737 development cycle and therefore, resources had to be moved. In hindsight, Robert should not have told the community about the new soundpack when he did, as it has created a perception that the team has simply walked away from developing it.
Robert said, “So, yes, I am aware that we failed to meet your expectations. Yes, I hear your feedback that this is a bad habit pattern for PMDG. Yes, we are working to change that facet of how we communicate.” He continued, “And lastly, yes- the sounds are still in the update plan for 777. We will tell you more about them when the time is appropriate.”
