PMDG has taken to their forums for their first official statement of the year, providing the community with a few updates on various projects. This includes the 777-200ER and DC-6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Beginning with general development on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Robert from PMDG said that they are still awaiting fixes to the platform before they can become unstuck with development and make forward progress. They are still experiencing memory allocation issues which inhibit the team from doing any “serious work” on the platform. They are hoping that SU1 for MSFS 2024 will fix these issues are are not super optimistic. But they will evaluate what the update brings and will keep us updated.
As for specific aircraft, they said that they are working on the DC-6 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 via some kind of compatibility update. There will be no new features, but want customers to have the ability to fly the plane in the new simulator.
As for the PMDG 777 series, they are planning on bringing the whole 777 fleet to the new simulator. They re-confirm that they do not plan on charging for upgrades “unless compelled to do so by MSFS Marketplace policy”. On the plus side, they confirmed that they are preparing the 777-200ER for beta testing. The plan right now is to release the 200ER for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. No timelines were given, but Robert said that they anticipate a “shortened beta process” due to the overall stability of the product line as a whole.
Other smaller updates on other projects were also given including the fact there is a small update coming soon for the 777 and the 737 plans already out there. As for the PMDG 747, expect more images and information next weekend.
That sums up Roberts’s post on the forum, but as always, we’ll keep you posted on any future updates. Check out more on the 777F in the meantime.
