PMDG has released interim updates for its PMDG 737-600, PMDG 737-800, and PMDG 737-900 aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The updates are available through the PMDG Operations Center and serve as preparation for a larger upcoming update for the 737NG fleet.
The main focus of the update is improving stability, particularly around reported WASM crashes. PMDG says its investigation suggests these crashes may stem from instability in how the simulator allocates dynamic memory to third-party add-ons. While a full solution may require a platform-level fix, the developer has implemented several internal safeguards aimed at reducing the likelihood of crashes.
Robert also said on the forums that the team identified a scenario related to flight path editing after the first fix on a STAR had been sequenced that could lead to late-flight crashes. Additional protections have now been added, along with other adjustments intended to improve compatibility when using the aircraft alongside other add-ons.
PMDG also shared an update on its planned 737NG exterior model detail upgrade for MSFS 2024. The update will significantly improve the external model to better take advantage of the new simulator’s technology. It is currently in final testing and is expected to be released later this month, initially launching alongside the upcoming Boeing 737-700 before being rolled out to the other variants.
The WASM crash protections will also be included in an upcoming update for PMDG’s Boeing 777 for MSFS 2024, which is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be released soon.
