PMDG Confirms Simutaneous Release of 777-200ER on FS2020/2024, New 747 Previews, and More

A lengthy update from PMDG comes with some good news.

PMDG Confirms Simutaneous Release of 777-200ER on FS2020/2024, New 747 Previews, and More

PMDG has started the month with a large new forum post that gives a range of new details for its entire product line, including some good news for those waiting on MSFS 2024 updates. This update included information on the 777-200ER, the upcoming 747, and bringing the DC-6.

PMDG 777-200ER

Robert began the post by discussing the PMDG 777-200ER product. Beta testing continues, but has been going well, with work now on validating the engine performance for all the variants included with this plane package. Each engine performs slightly differently and the team are tuning the sound package to ensure each one sounds unique to their engine type.

In other news, PMDG confirmed that they are now pushing the 777-200ER to beta teams for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. They have found the latest range of updates and SDK changes have cleared hurdles to give PMDG confidence in bringing their content to the platform. Whatsmore, PDMG confirmed a simultaneous release of the PMDG 777-200ER for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 as a single purchase. It will come with 30+ liveries and also be managed by the new PMDG Operations Centre 3.0, which is due to roll out pre-product release.

PMDG finally confirmed that they have a date on their internal calendar, but a few more testing items need to be completed before they publicly announce this date.

777 Series and DC-6

Alongside the release of the 777-200ER, they will push updates for the PMDG 777-300ER and the PMDG 777F. These updates will include numerous fixes and adjustments, plus new changes to the sound environment with a refreshed soundscape. Both of these products will also be prepared to be available in MSFS 2024.

PMDG confirmed that current PMDG 777 owners (the MSFS 2020 version) will get the update to the new simulator free of charge.

As for the DC-6, it is similar news. The blockers that were in the way before are now resolved and work continues to bring the plane up to the standards expected for its debut in MSFS 2024. It’s hoped to be in beta soon. PMDG again confirmed that there will be no update fee for the DC-6 for its MSFS 2024 counterpart.

PMDG 737 for MSFS 2024

It is still too soon for PMDG to discuss the PMDG 737 for MSFS 2024. They haven’t yet evaluated fully as their focus is on the other projects. That said, they are building a new cabin model and re-engineering the sound environment, which will be included in a new update.

PMDG 747 for MSFS

Work continues to progress nicely, with systems integrations for the flight engineer’s panel now underway. They are also working on the sounds, thanks to the access they have to the plane to source these, along with other bits of the development.

Robert goes into a lot more detail on his forum post, but we saw some new previews of the main and body gear – which is untextured and still a work in progress.

In the post, he said, “we fully anticipate this being the most visually detailed PMDG product yet created, as it is being built ground-up with MSFS 2024 in mind.” For those wondering whether the PMDG 747 will come to MSFS 2020, Robert said a decision hasn’t been made. He said that the tools in the new sim are “generations better” and involve less time wasted. A decision to back-port will come at a later stage.
